Blenheim rides Kenney to victory over Mooretown, 4-1

The Blenheim Blades relied on the sparkling performance of Klinton Kenney in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Mooretown Flags.

Blenheim was paced by Brandon Falconer, who had one goal and one assist. Falconer scored 14:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Blenheim. Bryce Broad picked up the assist.

The Blades forced Mooretown's goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Riley Collins made 11 stops and Brandon Johnson made 19. The defensemen of Blenheim were also effective in the Flags' zone, and came away with two goals.

Blenheim also had goals scored by Tyler Boughner, Austin Bentley, and Corbin Hagerman, who each put in one. More assists for Blenheim came via Justin Baker, who had two and Dylan Muzzatti and Zack Horvath, who each chipped in one.

Mooretown kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kenney made 31 saves on 32 shots.

The Flags were led by Matt Brandon, who scored the team's only goal. Brandon scored on the power play 18:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Blenheim. A boarding penalty on Doug Ross had put Mooretown on the power play. Sam Jasmin assisted on the tally.

Blenheim incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Flags incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mooretown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Thompson was ejected from the game.
