Dresden wins tough contest against Mooretown, 6-4Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Sep 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Dresden Kings escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Mooretown Flags. Dresden gained the winning advantage on a goal by Dillon Liberty 54 seconds into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. With four goals and one assist between them, Ross Krieger and Liberty teamed up to power the Kings' offense. Krieger racked up two goals and Liberty also added two goals and one assist. Mooretown's power play was ineffective against Dresden's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Flags were unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Kings bested their season scoring average. This season, Dresden averages 3.8 goals per contest. Dresden also got points from Liberty, who also registered two goals and one assist. Dresden also had goals scored by Devin Ouimet and Will Tetzlaff, who each put in one. More assists for Dresden came via Taylor Sisson, who had two and Blake Padbury and Derek Daly, who contributed one each. Mooretown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Dresden power plays. The Flags forced the Kings goalie Steven Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Mooretown was led by Sam Jasmin, who finished with two goals. Jasmin scored the first of his two goals at 3:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Ryan Lyle picked up the assist. Jasmin's next tally made the score 3-3 with 2:29 left in the second period. The Flags had gotten the advantage when Dresden's Jim McKinlay was sent off for slashing. Justin Vanbuskirk assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Mooretown included Ethan Dupont and Matt Brandon, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Shawn Moulis, who had one. Taylor recorded 32 saves for the Kings. Dresden incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Kings, Ouimet was ejected from the game. Mooretown's Riley Collins stopped 42 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Flags incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
