Hedrick leads Essex to shutout victory over Wallaceburg

Noah Hedrick made 29 saves to complete the shutout and led the Essex 73s to a 4-0 win against the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Essex was led by Eric Shaw, who finished with one goal. Shaw scored 2:17 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Essex.

The 73s stifled Wallaceburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lakers were unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Essex got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Nick Mainella also scored for Essex. More assists for Essex came via Matthew Hebert, Daniel Slipchuk, and Dallas Pereira, who contributed one each.

Wallaceburg's offense operated below its season average. The Lakers average 2.2 goals per game.

The 73s totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Essex, Michael Popel and Jordan Ryan were ejected from the contest. Joel Sowinski made 29 saves for Wallaceburg on 33 shots. The Lakers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For Wallaceburg, Mike Brown was ejected from the game.
