Kincardine penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of MitchellDavidson Fri, Jan 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mitchell Hawks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Kincardine Bulldogs shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1. Kincardine was led by Gerrit Satosek, who had one goal. Satosek scored 9:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kincardine. Patrick Wiejak picked up the assist. The Bulldogs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Mitchell power plays. Kincardine kept Mitchell's goalie busy throughout the game, and Graeme Lauersen made 41 saves on 45 shots. The Bulldogs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 40 penalty minutes. Kincardine also got points from Wiejak, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kincardine also had goals scored by Jordan Bell and Sam Feagan, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kincardine were Riley Cook, Jordan Van Haelemeesch, Matt Baker, Mike Osadca, Mike Smailes, Luke Inglis, and Matthew Mah, who each chipped in one. The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kincardine to score on any of its six power plays. The Bulldogs' defense shut down Mitchell's forwards for much of the game, and the Hawks got off only 13 shots during the contest. Mitchell was led by McKenzie Carter, who scored the team's only goal. Carter scored 3:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mitchell. Jake Finlayson assisted on the tally. Mitch Campbell made 12 saves for Kincardine on 13 shots. The Hawks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
