Hanover holds on for 4-3 win against Walkerton

The Hanover Barons survived a determined comeback attempt by the Walkerton Hawks on the way to a 4-3 win.

Hanover made the score 4-0 on a goal by Jarrett Kuntz at 8:40 in the second period, and Walkerton got as close as 4-3 when Brett Coulson scored 14:28 into the third period.

The Barons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Hanover stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Barons were helped by Greg Buchanan, who finished with one goal. Buchanan scored on the power play 4:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hanover. A tripping penalty on Nathan Kramer had put Hanover on the power play. Hanover also got points from Colton Culbert, who also registered one goal and one assist. Justin D Graham also scored for Hanover. Other players who recorded assists for Hanover were Tyson Soers, who had three and Mitchell Pike and Brodie Lemay, who contributed one each.

Walkerton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Hawks put an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game.

Walkerton additionally got points from Lauchlin Elder, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Walkerton also got a goal from Matt Shields as well. More assists for Walkerton came via Alec Tiley(AP), Calvin Penney, Brendan Welsh, and Justin McCrae(AP), who each chipped in one.

Cody Van der Heide rejected 23 shots on goal for the Barons. Hanover registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Erik Angeli made 17 saves for Walkerton on 21 shots. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
