Mount Forest's comeback falls short, Hanover wins 4-3

The Hanover Barons, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Mount Forest Patriots and clinched a 4-3 victory.

Hanover led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Barons' Lucas Johnson scored at 5:21 in the second period to put Hanover up 4-0.

The Barons forced Mount Forest's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 43 shots and forcing 39 saves. John Nixon made 31 stops and Kyle Sephton made eight. Hanover put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Patriots to score on any of their four power plays. The Barons' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Hanover was led by Justin D Graham, who registered one goal and one assist. Graham scored 9:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hanover. Tyson Soers assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Hanover included Kyler Jones and Brad Pitt, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hanover were Denver Hill and Maxwell Barclay, who contributed one each.

Mount Forest excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Barons were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Mount Forest eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Mitch Betts, who finished with one goal. Betts scored 15:31 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Hanover. Trevor Hughson picked up the assist. Mount Forest also got points from Luke Richardson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also got a goal from Doug Costanzo as well. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Doug Ardis and Tyler McCracken, who each chipped in one.

Hanover's Gord Walmsley stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Barons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mount Forest incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
