Walkerton downs Kincardine, 8-3Western Jr. C Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Austin Russell tallied two points to lead the Walkerton Hawks to an 8-3 victory over the Kincardine Bulldogs. In the losing effort, Kincardine was sparked by Shawn Moore, who finished with two goals. Moore scored the first of his two goals at 5:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Walkerton. Dalton Hnatko provided the assist. Moore's next tally made the score 2-2 with 13:00 left in the second period. Matt Baker picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:22 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Walkerton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kincardine power plays. The Hawks bested their season scoring average. Walkerton averages 5.2 goals per game. The defensemen of the Hawks were also effective in the Bulldogs' zone, and came away with two goals. Walkerton also got points from Nathan Kramer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Calvin Penney, who also had two goals and one assist, Ryan Hamelin, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brett Coulson, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Walkerton also had goals scored by CJ Arthur and Brooks Nelthorpe, who scored one goal each. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Chris Gillman, who had three, Alex Perrault and Tyler Cunningham, who contributed one each, and John McCrae and Reid Simmons, who each chipped in two. Keegan Angel(AP) also scored for Kincardine. Other players who recorded assists for Kincardine were Alex Labrosse, Collin Whitfield, and Sam Feagan, who contributed one each. Erik Angeli rejected 21 shots on goal for Walkerton. The Hawks totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Walkerton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nelthorpe was ejected from the game. Luke Aulthouse made 18 saves for Kincardine on 26 shots. The Bulldogs ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Kincardine, Luke Czuczman was ejected from the game.
