Wardlaw, Mount Forest blank Mitchell, 6-0

The Mount Forest Patriots used a sparkling performance by Cole Wardlaw to take down the Mitchell Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Mount Forest's 6-0 shutout victory.

Luke Richardson was all over the ice for the Patriots, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Richardson scored the first of his two goals at 19:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mount Forest. Doug Ardis provided the assist. Richardson's next tally made the score 4-0 Mount Forest with 12:03 left in the second period. Mitch Betts assisted on the tally.

Mount Forest forced Mitchell's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 46 shots and forcing 40 saves. Clay Carter made 30 stops and Dan Skinner(AP) made 10. The Patriots stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Mount Forest also got points from Ardis, who also registered one goal and two assists and Devin Williams, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Brady Becker and Ian Bridgwater, who each put in one. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Bo Uridil and Shawn Lantz, who contributed one each.

Mitchell was held below its usual level of production. The Hawks average 2.5 goals per game. Mitchell kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and Wardlaw made 31 saves on 31 shots.

The Patriots incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
