Hanover downs Mitchell in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Western Jr. C Fri, Jan 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Colton Culbert gave the Hanover Barons a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Mitchell Hawks when he scored 2:33 into the extra period. Hanover was led by Culbert, who finished with one goal and one assist. The Barons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mitchell power plays. Mitchell was unable to stop Hanover from sending pucks towards the net, and the Barons eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. The defensemen of Hanover were also effective in the Hawks' zone, and came away with two goals. Hanover also had goals scored by Jarrett Kuntz, who had two and Mitchell Pike and Justin D Graham, who each put in one. More assists for Hanover came via Greg Buchanan, who had two and Brodie Lemay, Wyatt Carey, Denver Hill, Cole Leslie, and Wendel Cameron, who contributed one each. Mitchell's offense rang up 37 shots on the Barons' net. The Hawks were led by Jake Finlayson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Finlayson scored 9:39 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Hanover. Others who scored for Mitchell included McKenzie Carter, Matt Van DeWalle, and Tyler Pauli, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mitchell were Zach Goodhew, who had two and Ethan Adair, Austin VanDerGeld, and Colton Drinkwalter, who each chipped in one. Gord Walmsley rejected 33 shots on goal for Hanover. The Barons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Clay Carter made 47 saves for Mitchell on 52 shots.
