Mount Forest blows out Mitchell, 8-1

The Mount Forest Patriots had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Mitchell Hawks.

Mount Forest was led by goalie John Nixon, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Nixon will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.04.

The Patriots were led by Josh Perdue, who tallied one goal. Perdue scored 2:02 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mount Forest. Brendon Aitken picked up the assist.

Mount Forest forced Mitchell goalie Clay Carter to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. The Patriots outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Mount Forest averages 4.2 goals per contest.

Mount Forest also got points from Doug Ardis, who also had two goals and one assist, Aitken, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Mitch Betts, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Mount Forest also got a goal from Tyler McCracken as well. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Ian Bridgwater, who had one, Brady Becker, who had two, Trevor Hughson, who had three, and Shawn Lantz, who had four.

The Patriots were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Mitchell eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Hawks were led by McKenzie Carter, who scored the team's only goal. Carter scored 10:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mount Forest. Ethan Adair provided the assist.

Mount Forest totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For the Patriots, Bo Uridil was ejected from the game.
