Goderich erases deficit to stun Wingham, 4-3

The Goderich Flyers rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Wingham Ironmen.

Goderich let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Flyers took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Joseph Dykstra at 6:39 in the third period. Goderich went down 2-0 after Wingham's J J Harland put the puck home at 10:10 in the second period. After tying things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Matt McCracken at 8:33 in the third, the Flyers got the game-winner from Chase Duckworth at 15:07 in the third period.

Duckworth was all over the ice for Goderich, as he had two goals in the win.

The Flyers was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 14 chances with a man advantage.

Goderich additionally got points from Nick Gowing, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Goderich received assists from Mitch Kuik, Brandon Priestap, and Jesse McIntyre, who contributed one each.

The Ironmen stifled Goderich's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wingham kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Pat Do made 29 saves on 32 shots. The Ironmen's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Wingham finished with 34 penalty minutes.

Wingham also got points from Darren Kerr, who also registered one goal and one assist and McCracken, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Greg Scott, who had one and Justin Jacklin, who had two.

Goderich incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For the Flyers, Morgan Benniwies was ejected from the game. Jaden Shrier took the loss and made 10 saves before being replaced by Ben Nelson who made 16 saves. The Ironmen registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
