J J Harland gave the Wingham Ironmen a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Walkerton Hawks when he scored 28 seconds into the extra period. Although Wingham was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Walkerton kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Hawks got to within 3-2 on a goal by Calvin Penney at 8:36 in the third period. Harland had a great game for the Ironmen, netting two goals. Wingham's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Walkerton power plays. Walkerton was unable to stop the Ironmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Wingham eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Others who scored for Wingham included Alex Kuntz and Jared Weishar, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Darren Kerr, who had three and Brett Brophy, Holdyn Lansink, Justin Jacklin, and Jeremy Ross, who each chipped in one. The Hawks' offense operated below their season average. Walkerton puts an average of 5.6 pucks into the net per game. The Hawks were helped by Brett Coulson, who registered one goal. Coulson scored 2:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Lauchlin Elder assisted on the tally. Walkerton also got a goal from Jay Thomson as well. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Reid Simmons, who had one. The Ironmen's Ben Nelson stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Wingham totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Ironmen, Lansink was ejected from the game. Erik Angeli made 32 saves for Walkerton on 36 shots. The Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
