The Mount Forest Patriots was within striking distance after one period, but the Walkerton Hawks put the pedal down in the second en route to a 9-2 victory.

Walkerton got the win on the strength of a great game by Carter Franks, who had one goal and two assists. Franks scored 1:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Walkerton. Ryan Hamelin picked up the assist.

The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Walkerton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mount Forest to score on any of its six power plays. The Hawks kept the Patriots' goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 32 saves on 41 shots. Walkerton's goal total was higher than its season average. Mount Forest was led by Kyle Hunter, who registered one goal and one assist. Hunter scored 2:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Walkerton.
