Mount Forest falls to Hanover after surprising comebackWestern Jr. C Fri, Nov 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Hanover Barons battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Mount Forest Patriots. Hanover never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Barons was down 3-1 after a goal by Mount Forest's Doug Ardis at 9:16 in the second period. Hanover tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Justin D Graham at 7:58 in the third period. The Barons got the game winner at 19:17 in the third period on a goal by Graham. Wendel Cameron had a great game for Hanover, netting two goals. The Barons kept the Patriots' goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 27 saves on 31 shots. Brodie Lemay also scored for Hanover. Other players who recorded assists for Hanover were Garrett Weigel, who had two and Brad Pitt, Cole Leslie, Garrett Reed, and Jarrett Kuntz, who contributed one each. Mount Forest excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Patriots were helped by Kyle Hunter, who racked up one goal. Hunter scored on the power play 1:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mount Forest. Mount Forest had taken the advantage when Hanover's Weigel got sent off for too many men. Shawn Lantz assisted on the tally. Mount Forest also got a goal from Doug Costanzo as well. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Trevor Hughson, Josh Perdue, and Mitch Betts, who each chipped in one. Gord Walmsley made 22 saves for the Barons on 25 shots. Hanover incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Patriots incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
