Wingham beats Kincardine 8-3 as Jacklin gets hat trick

Justin Jacklin lifted the Wingham Ironmen to an 8-3 victory with a hat trick against the Kincardine Bulldogs.

Jacklin notched his first tally 18:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:00 into the second and at 17:28 into the second.

Kincardine's power play was ineffective against Wingham's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:49 into the second period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

The Ironmen forced Bulldogs' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 39 shots and forcing 31 saves. Mitch Campbell made 25 stops and Luke Aulthouse made six. Wingham stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ironmen found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Wingham averages 4.5 goals per contest. The Ironmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wingham additionally got points from Jared Weishar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jeremy Ross, who also had one goal and one assist. Wingham also got a goal from Holdyn Lansink as well. In addition, Wingham received assists from Alex Kuntz, who had four and Darren Kerr and Brett Brophy, who each chipped in two.

Kincardine's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Bulldogs had been spending in the box. Kincardine kept Wingham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Nelson made 31 saves on 34 shots.

The Bulldogs were helped by Gerrit Satosek, who racked up two goals. Satosek scored the first of his two goals at 18:31 into the second period to make the score 8-2 Wingham. Chad Simpson assisted on the tally. Satosek's next tally made the score 8-3 Wingham with 2:52 left in the third period. Patrick Wiejak picked up the assist. Mike Smailes also scored for Kincardine.

The Ironmen registered four goals on eight power play opportunities. For Wingham, Jordie Schneider and Lansink were ejected from the contest. Team's Riley Cook and Luke Inglis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
