Kincardine shrugs off penalties, upends Mitchell, 5-2Western Jr. C Sat, Nov 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Kincardine Bulldogs were able to defeat the Mitchell Hawks, 5-2. Kincardine was led by Jordan Bell, who finished with one goal. Bell scored 4:54 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Kincardine. Derrick Bernath picked up the assist. The Bulldogs' offense rang up 49 shots on Mitchell's net. Kincardine excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Hawks to get one power play goal on 12 chances. The Bulldogs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 50 penalty minutes. Kincardine additionally got points from Chad Simpson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kincardine also had goals scored by #$self.jersey, Shawn Moore, and Sam Feagan, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kincardine were Matthew Mah, who had two and Gerrit Satosek, Mike Osadca, Mike Smailes, and Patrick Wiejak, who each chipped in one. Mitchell stifled Kincardine's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Mitchell was helped by Josh Den Otter, who tallied one goal. Den Otter scored on the power play 5:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Bulldogs' Brady Richards was sent off for high sticking. Kyle Spence provided the assist. Mitchell also got points from Bayley Boyes, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Zach Joron, who had one. Mitch Campbell made 22 saves for Kincardine on 24 shots. The Bulldogs registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Kincardine ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Czuczman was ejected from the game. Keaton Weiss recorded 44 saves for Mitchell.
