Mount Forest beats Kincardine 5-3 after comeback scareMount Forest Sat, Oct 25, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mount Forest Patriots survived a determined comeback attempt by the Kincardine Bulldogs on the way to a 5-3 win. Mount Forest took a 5-1 lead during the second period, only to have Kincardine storm back on a Brycin Morrison goal 13:15 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Luke Richardson and Trevor Hughson provided the spark for the Patriots, combining for two goals and six assists. Richardson had two goals and one assist and Hughson also notched zero goals and five assists. Mount Forest's offense rang up 35 shots on the Bulldogs' net. Team could not crack Kincardine's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 11 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Mount Forest additionally got points from Doug Costanzo, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Josh Perdue, who also registered one goal and one assist. Doug Ardis also scored for Mount Forest. The Bulldogs forced the Patriots goalie John Nixon to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Kincardine's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. The Bulldogs give up 2.5 goals per game. Kincardine was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 42 penalty minutes. Kincardine also got a goal from Brady Richards as well. In addition, Kincardine received assists from John Woolsey, Mike Osadca, Mike Smailes, and Patrick Wiejak, who each chipped in one. John Nixon made 43 saves for Mount Forest on 46 shots. The Patriots incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Luke Aulthouse rejected 30 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Kincardine registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Bulldogs, Richards was ejected from the game.
