Goderich outlasts Mitchell, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Goderich Flyers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Mitchell Hawks.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mitch Kuik secured the win for Goderich with a goal in the second period.

The Flyers were led by Joseph Dykstra, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Dykstra scored 4:18 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Goderich. Curtis Taylor provided the assist.

Mitchell was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Goderich eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Goderich included Morgan Benniwies and Jordan Pepper, who scored one goal each. More assists for Goderich came via Cody McIntrye and Marcel Fohkens, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Goderich power plays. Mitchell forced the Flyers goalie Pat Do to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Tyler Pauli, who had two goals. Pauli scored the first of his two goals at 1:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Zach Goodhew picked up the assist. Pauli's next tally made the score 3-2 Goderich with 8:15 left in the third period. Mitchell had taken the advantage when Goderich's Taylor got sent off for interference. Goodhew provided the assist.

Do rejected 37 shots on goal for the Flyers. Goderich incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Keaton Weiss made 33 saves for the Hawks on 37 shots. Mitchell incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
