Penney nets hat trick, leads Walkerton to 5-2 win over Hanover

The Hanover Barons could not stop the Walkerton Hawks' Calvin Penney, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Penney's first goal came 17:57 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:42 into the third and at 19:06 into the third.

Walkerton struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Walkerton also got points from Mitch Borden, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Walkerton also got a goal from Lauchlin Elder as well. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Ryan Hamelin, who had two and Carter Franks and Skylar Robertson, who contributed one each.

Hanover kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Erik Angeli made 39 saves on 41 shots.

The Barons were led by Garrett Reed, who registered one goal and one assist. Reed scored on the power play 7:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Walkerton. Hanover had gotten the advantage when Walkerton's CJ Arthur was sent off for holding. Justin D Graham also scored for Hanover. More assists for Hanover came via Jarrett Kuntz, who had one.

The Hawks registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Gord Walmsley made 24 saves for the Barons on 28 shots. Hanover incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
