The Wingham Ironmen's Ryan McNeil scored 4:38 into overtime to beat the Walkerton Hawks, 3-2 (OT). Wingham overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ironmen was down 2-0 after a goal by Walkerton's CJ Arthur at 1:37 in the third period. Wingham tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Alex Kuntz at 14:26 in the third period. Kuntz was all over the ice for the Ironmen, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Kuntz scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:33 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Walkerton. Wingham had gotten the advantage when the Hawks' Brett Coulson was sent off for cross checking. Brett Brophy assisted on the tally. Kuntz's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 5:34 left in the third period. Walkerton was unable to stop the Ironmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Wingham eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. In addition, Wingham received assists from Jordan Skerrett, who had one. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Walkerton averages 5.2 goals per game. The Hawks' offense rang up 44 shots on the Ironmen's net. Walkerton was helped by Ryan Hamelin, who had one goal. Hamelin scored 13:43 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Walkerton. Nathan Kramer provided the assist. Ben Nelson rejected 42 shots on goal for Wingham. The Ironmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tristan Lewis made 34 saves for the Hawks on 37 shots. Walkerton incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
