Hughson leads Mount Forest over Mitchell, 6-2Mitchell Arena Sat, Oct 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Trevor Hughson, who had two goals and two assists, the Mount Forest Patriots defeated the Mitchell Hawks, 6-2. Hughson found the back of the net on the power play 14:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mount Forest and again while 59 seconds into the third to make the score 4-1 Mount Forest.Mount Forest kept Mitchell's goalie busy throughout the game, and Clay Carter made 27 saves on 33 shots. Mount Forest additionally got points from Brady Becker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brendon Aitken, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Doug Ardis and Brad Binkle, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Mitch Betts, who had two, Luke Richardson, who had three, and Devin Williams and Tyler McCracken, who contributed one each. The Patriots were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Mitchell eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Hawks were led by Matt Van DeWalle, who registered one goal. Van DeWalle scored on the power play 19:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mount Forest. Mitchell had gotten the advantage when Mount Forest's McCracken was sent off for cross checking. Tyler Pauli assisted on the tally. Mitchell also got a goal from Scott Fries as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mitchell were Zach Goodhew and Bayley Boyes, who each chipped in one. Cole Wardlaw recorded 30 saves for the Patriots. Mount Forest incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
