Nelson stymies Kincardine, Wingham wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Ben Nelson helped the Wingham Ironmen defeat the Kincardine Bulldogs, 3-1.

Wingham was led by Ryan McNeil, who finished with one goal and one assist. McNeil scored on the power play 8:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wingham. An interference penalty on Sam Feagan had put the Ironmen on the power play. Carter Stewart provided the assist.

Wingham additionally got points from Alex Kuntz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Holdyn Lansink also scored for Wingham. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Brett Brophy, who had one.

Kincardine forced Wingham goalie Nelson to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kincardine was led by Shawn Moore, who scored the team's only goal. Moore scored on the power play 8:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kincardine. The Bulldogs earned a power play opportunity when Jordie Schneider was put in the box for slashing. Feagan picked up the assist.

Ben Nelson made 40 saves for the Ironmen on 41 shots. Wingham incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mitch Campbell recorded 27 saves for Kincardine. The Bulldogs registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Kincardine, Mike Osadca and Collin Whitfield were ejected from the contest.
