Hughson lifts Mount Forest over Mitchell, 7-2Mount Forest Sat, Sep 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Trevor Hughson had four goals to lead the Mount Forest Patriots to a 7-2 victory over the Mitchell Hawks. Hughson notched his first tally 50 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 8:27 into the first, at 5:00 into the second, and at 15:12 into the second.Mount Forest pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes. The Patriots forced Mitchell's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 42 shots and forcing 35 saves. Tyler MacGregor made 14 stops and Clay Carter made 21. Mount Forest also got points from Josh Perdue, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also got a goal from Shawn Lantz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Doug Costanzo, who had three, Doug Ardis, Keenan Maclean-Hill, Brady Becker, and Mitch Betts, who each chipped in one, and Luke Richardson, Kyle Hunter, and Eric Maecker, who contributed two each. The Hawks were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Mitchell had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on Mount Forest's net. Mitchell was led by McKenzie Carter, who registered one goal and one assist. Carter scored short handed 6:23 into the third period to make the score 7-2 Mount Forest. A inciting an opponent call on Wil Marcy put the Hawks on the penalty kill. Bayley Boyes also scored for Mitchell. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Matt Van DeWalle, who had one. Cole Wardlaw rejected 30 shots on goal for the Patriots. Mount Forest registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. The Patriots ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Maclean-Hill was ejected from the game. Mitchell registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Hawks, Zach Goodhew and Marcy were ejected from the contest.
