Mitchell's Adair deadly on offense in 6-2 win against GoderichGoderich MRC Sat, Sep 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mitchell Hawks relied on the scoring touch of Ethan Adair, who netted two goals, to beat the Goderich Flyers, 6-2. Adair found the back of the net on the power play 9:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mitchell and again while 3:51 into the second to make the score 3-1 Mitchell.Mitchell stifled Goderich's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Mitchell eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Mitchell has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Others who scored for Mitchell included Trevor MacDonald, who had two and McKenzie Carter and Wil Marcy, who each put in one. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Greg Orr and Trevor Skinner, who contributed one each and Scott Fries and Tyler Pauli, who each chipped in two. Goderich was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Flyers had been spending in the box. Goderich's offense rang up 34 shots on the Hawks' net. The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Mitchell to get one power play goal on 12 chances. Goderich was helped by Brandon Priestap, who tallied one goal. Priestap scored 42 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Mitchell. Goderich also got a goal from Morgan Benniwies as well. Clay Carter recorded 32 saves for the Hawks. Mitchell ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Hawks, Fries was ejected from the game. Nathan Watson made 26 saves for the Flyers on 32 shots. Goderich registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Kyle Langlois(AP) and Drew McKee were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
