Mount Forest downs Wingham, 6-3

The Mount Forest Patriots beat the Wingham Ironmen, 6-3.

Wingham was unable to stop Mount Forest from sending pucks towards the net, and the Patriots eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Mount Forest was led by Brad Binkle, who finished with two goals and one assist. Binkle scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:16 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Mount Forest. The Patriots earned a power play opportunity when Jeremy Ross was put in the box for tripping. Cody Wright assisted on the tally. Binkle's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Mount Forest with 53 seconds left in the third period. Brenden Aitken picked up the assist. Mount Forest also got points from Devin Williams, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Aitken, who also had one goal and one assist, and Wright, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also got a goal from Mitch Betts as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Luke Richardson, who had two and Kyle Hunter and Josh Perdue, who contributed one each.

The Ironmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wingham was helped by Matt McCracken, who tallied two goals. McCracken scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:49 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. The Ironmen had taken the advantage when Mount Forest's Doug Ardis got sent off for roughing after whistle. McCracken's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Wingham with 11:18 left in the third period. Wingham had gotten the advantage when the Patriots' Wright was sent off for high sticking. Justin Jacklin provided the assist. Wingham additionally got points from Jacklin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Wingham came via Brett Brophy and Cody Lang, who each chipped in one.

Mount Forest's Cole Wardlaw stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Mount Forest, Shawn Lantz was ejected from the game. Ben Nelson made 27 saves for the Ironmen on 32 shots. Wingham registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Ironmen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Holdyn Lansink was ejected from the game.
