Paris rips Wellesley, 7-0Brant Sports Complex Sun, Jan 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Paris Mounties were firing on all cylinders against the Wellesley Applejacks, and when the final buzzer sounded Mounties emerged with a 7-0 win. Brodie Smith was all over the ice for Paris, as he tallied four goals in the win. Smith notched his first tally 14:16 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:45 into the second, at 9:26 into the second, and at 12:21 into the second. Wellesley's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Applejacks let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The Mounties stifled Wellesley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Paris' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Applejacks. The Mounties average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Paris forced Wellesley goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Mounties surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Paris averages 4.0 goals per game. Paris additionally got points from Alex Ritchie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Paris also got a goal from Brett Wilson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Zack Skubnik, who had two, Merrit Crumback and Garrett Kirby, who contributed one each, and Brady Wheelans and Clayton Chalmers, who each chipped in three. The Applejacks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wellesley averages 2.9 goals per game. The Applejacks' power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities. Wellesley found itself short handed often, totaling 64 penalty minutes and allowing 11 power plays. Davis McLean made 24 saves for the Mounties on 24 shots. Paris incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Team's Tye Calder and Kirby were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Bester rejected 34 shots on goal for the Applejacks. For Wellesley, Cal Jefferies and Justin Lebold were ejected from the contest.
