Weiss leads Wellesley to shutout victory over Delhi

Keaton Weiss recorded a shutout against the Delhi Travellers as the Wellesley Applejacks picked up an 8-0 win.

Wellesley was sparked by Tyler Seguin, who had one goal and one assist. Seguin scored on the power play 3:40 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. The Applejacks had gained a power play chance when Matt Jakubowski was whistled for head contact. Justin Plant provided the assist.

Wellesley forced Delhi's goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 46 shots and forcing 38 saves. Mike Harrison made 25 stops and Patrick Tanner made 13. The Applejacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Wellesley surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Applejacks average 3.0 goals per contest.

Wellesley also got points from Taylor Doering, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Hayden Stewart, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Tysen Willemsen as well. More assists for Wellesley came via Alex Uttley, who had two and Matt Ridge, Paul Morra, Reid Denstedt, Cal Jefferies, and Blake Hetherington, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Weiss made 35 saves on 35 shots. Delhi could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Applejacks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
