Swindells, Woodstock blank Tavistock, 3-0

Jackson Swindells was superb between the pipes for the Woodstock Navy Vets, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Tavistock Braves.

Tavistock's power play was ineffective against Woodstock's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Navy Vets forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Woodstock surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. The Navy Vets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 11 Tavistock power plays. Woodstock's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Navy Vets average 2.7 goals allowed per game.

Woodstock was helped by Austin Richardson, who registered one goal. Richardson scored 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Woodstock. Matt Jauernig picked up the assist. Woodstock also had goals scored by Michael Nutt and Braden Hutchison, who scored one goal each. More assists for Woodstock came via Jake Schneider and Dan Haig, who contributed one each.

The Braves put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Navy Vets to score on any of their three power plays. Tavistock could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Braves put an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. Woodstock was unable to stop Tavistock from sending pucks towards the net, and the Braves eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Swindells recorded 39 saves for the Navy Vets. Team's Justin Elms and Ryan MacDonald were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Jason Miller made 20 saves for Tavistock on 22 shots. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Tavistock, Josh Borys AP was ejected from the game.
