New Hamburg downs Wellesley, 5-2

Tyler Randerson had one point to lead the New Hamburg Firebirds to a 5-2 victory over the Wellesley Applejacks.

New Hamburg stifled Wellesley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Applejacks were unable to stop the Firebirds from sending pucks towards the net, and New Hamburg eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

New Hamburg also got points from Taylor Wood, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Ben Playfair, Andrew Boer, and Jaden Goetz, who scored one goal each. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Kory Nowak, who had two and Jerry Ennett, Quinten Haddock, David Jennings, Brandon Quan, Chris Eckert, and Brodie Muckler, who each chipped in one.

Wellesley found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against the Firebirds' defense.

The Applejacks were helped by Tysen Willemsen, who registered one goal. Willemsen scored 12:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New Hamburg. Tyler Seguin assisted on the tally. Blake Hetherington also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Reid Denstedt, Alex Uttley, and Hayden Stewart, who contributed one each.

Tanner Topham made 10 saves for New Hamburg on 12 shots. The Firebirds incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tim Bester rejected 30 shots on goal for Wellesley. The Applejacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
