Ennett nets hat trick, leads New Hamburg to 7-2 win over Delhi

Jerry Ennett netted a hat trick to lead the New Hamburg Firebirds over the Delhi Travellers, 7-2.

Ennett's first goal came 18:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:41 into the second and at 19:56 into the third.

New Hamburg forced Delhi's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Patrick Tanner made 21 stops and Mike Harrison made 11. The Firebirds' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Delhi power plays. New Hamburg bested its season scoring average. This season, the Firebirds average 4.6 goals per contest.

New Hamburg also got points from Kory Nowak, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jaden Goetz, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Colin Martin and Matt Bedforth, who each put in one. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Ben Playfair, Shawn Antonides, Brodie Muckler, and Carter Tracey, who each chipped in one and Quinten Haddock and Garrett Pollock, who contributed two each.

The Travellers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Delhi wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

New Hamburg's Tanner Topham stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Firebirds incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
