Ayr blows out Paris, 5-2North Dumfries Thu, Jan 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ayr Centennials had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Paris Mounties. Ayr pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 34 penalty minutes. The Centennials were led by Brendan Schaefer, who finished with one goal and one assist. Schaefer scored 16:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Ayr. Quinn Diamond picked up the assist. Ayr kept Paris' goalie busy throughout the game, and Davis McLean made 38 saves on 43 shots. The Centennials had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Ayr additionally got points from Mackenzie Kemp, who also registered one goal and one assist and Diamond, who also had one goal and one assist. Ayr also had goals scored by Eric Hackborn and Sean Mitchell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ayr received assists from Logan Beechey, Jordan Pettitt, and Andrew Richard, who each chipped in one. The Mounties forced Ayr goalie Andre Keire to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Paris' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Mounties finished with 42 penalty minutes. Paris was helped by Alex Ritchie, who racked up one goal. Ritchie scored 1:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. Clayton Chalmers provided the assist. Paris also got points from Chalmers, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Paris came via Brett Wilson, Tye Calder, and Merrit Crumback, who contributed one each. Keire rejected 32 shots on goal for the Centennials. The Mounties registered one goal on nine power play opportunities.
