Tavistock downs Wellesley in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Wellesley Sat, Dec 27, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Wellesley Applejacks on a clutch goal by Jordan Ritsma. Tavistock pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Braves were led by Ritsma, who had one goal. Ritsma scored 22 seconds into to make the score 3-2 Tavistock. Matthew Lupton provided the assist. Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Wellesley was unable to stop the Braves from sending pucks towards the net, and Tavistock eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Tavistock also had goals scored by Jake Wiffen and Dylan Yantzi, who each put in one. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Tayler Trachsel, who had two and Jared Yantzi and Maverick Petrie, who contributed one each. The Applejacks were helped by Josh Bickell, who registered one goal. Bickell scored 5:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Reid Denstedt picked up the assist. Cal Jefferies also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Tyler Seguin and Matt Schieck, who each chipped in one. The Braves' Ben Larder stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Tavistock registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Tim Bester recorded 46 saves for Wellesley. The Applejacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
