Wellesley falls to Woodstock in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Woodstock Navy Vets' Mike Gillespie scored 1:39 into overtime to beat the Wellesley Applejacks, 2-1 (OT).

Woodstock's Jackson Swindells was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Swindells will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.82.

The Navy Vets were paced by Gillespie, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:44 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Woodstock kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Bester made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Woodstock also got a goal from Dan Haig as well. More assists for Woodstock came via Austin Richardson and Jeremy Racicot, who contributed one each.

The Applejacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Woodstock power plays. The Navy Vets were unable to stop Wellesley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Applejacks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Wellesley was led by Alex Uttley, who scored the team's only goal. Uttley scored 46 seconds into the third period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Reid Denstedt picked up the assist.

Woodstock ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Team's Ricky Johnston and Ryan MacDonald were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Applejacks totaled 55 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Wellesley, Tysen Willemsen was ejected from the game.
