Morrison's hat trick boosts Norwich over Delhi, 7-3Delhi Community Centre Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Zack Morrison was the highlight in Merchants' 7-3 win against the Delhi Travellers. Morrison's first goal came 18:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:37 into the third and at 5:15 into the third.The Norwich Merchants forced Travellers' netminders to work without much rest, firing 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Patrick Tanner made 29 stops and Mike Harrison made seven. Norwich stifled Delhi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Merchants' goal total was higher than their season average. Norwich averages 3.2 goals per game. Norwich also got points from Jamie Kelly, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Jesse Szabo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Norwich included Braeden Shand and Jordan Gillis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Kyle Sault, who had three and Kurtis Lavis, Mitchell Berzins, Brandon Velda, and Dalton Alford, who each chipped in one. The Travellers found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 11 shots against the Merchants' defense. Delhi was helped by Taylor Hockley, who racked up two goals. Hockley scored the first of his two goals at 17:23 into the third period to make the score 7-2 Norwich. Nevin Guenther provided the assist. Hockley's next tally made the score 7-3 Norwich with 2:10 left in the third period. Guenther assisted on the tally. Brendan Schreider also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Jordan Betzold, Jarred Ebdon, Mitch Smythe, and Kelsey Van Ymeren, who contributed one each. Norwich's Patrick Maziarz stopped eight shots out of the 11 that he faced. The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Norwich ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Troy Lamoure was ejected from the game. The Travellers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
