Norwich downs Wellesley in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Norwich Merchants' Jamie Kelly scored 2:35 into overtime to beat the Wellesley Applejacks, 4-3 (OT).

Norwich pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

The Merchants were led by Kelly, who finished with one goal.

Norwich forced Wellesley goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Others who scored for Norwich included Kurtis Lavis, Derek Slaght, and Jordan Gillis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Jesse Szabo, who had two and Mitchell Berzins, Kyle Sault, Matt Zilke, and Drake Morrell, who contributed one each.

The Applejacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Norwich power plays. Wellesley kept the Merchants' goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Maziarz made 31 saves on 34 shots.

The Applejacks were helped by Justin Lebold, who racked up one goal. Lebold scored 18:51 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Matt Schieck provided the assist. Wellesley also got points from Schieck, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Taylor Doering also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Blake Hetherington, Tysen Willemsen, and Sean McEwan, who each chipped in one.

Wellesley's Bester stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Applejacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Wellesley, Parker Wood and Alex Uttley were ejected from the contest.
