Smith's goals lift Paris to 4-1 victory over Norwich

Brodie Smith had two goals to lead the Paris Mounties to a 4-1 victory over the Norwich Merchants.

Smith scored at 7:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Paris and again while 15:07 into the third to make the score 3-1 Paris.

Paris was led by goalie Davis McLean, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. McLean certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.92 entering the contest.

The Mounties' penalty kill excelled, as Paris gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Others who scored for Paris included Ryan Stephenson and Scott Sippel, who scored one goal each. In addition, Paris received assists from Merrit Crumback, who had one, Brady Wheelans, who had two, and Brett Wilson, who had three.

Norwich was led by Drake Morrell, who scored the team's only goal. Morrell scored on the power play 2:08 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Norwich. The Merchants earned a power play opportunity when Zach Taylor was put in the box for slashing. Mitchell Berzins picked up the assist.

The Mounties incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Patrick Maziarz made 19 saves for Norwich on 22 shots. The Merchants incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
