Ayr rips Wellesley, 7-2Wellesley Sat, Dec 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellesley Applejacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Ayr Centennials, which beat Applejacks, 7-2. Wellesley's power play was ineffective against Ayr's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Centennials were led by Felix Lantaigne, who registered one goal. Lantaigne scored 7:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ayr. Jackson White provided the assist. Ayr forced the Applejacks' goaltenders to work without much rest, totaling 45 shots and forcing 38 saves. Tim Bester made 33 stops and Keaton Weiss made five. The Centennials stifled Wellesley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ayr could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of the Centennials were also effective in the Applejacks' zone, and came away with two goals. Ayr additionally got points from Quinn Diamond, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Connor MacLean, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Andrew Richard, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ayr included Mackenzie Kemp, Kevan Hadad, and Colin Schuringa, who each put in one. In addition, Ayr received assists from Riley Clipper, who had two, Logan Beechey, who had three, and Jake Whibbs and Carver Ormiston, who contributed one each. Wellesley's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities. The Applejacks were led by Cal Jefferies, who registered one goal and one assist. Jefferies scored 13:44 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Ayr. Sean McEwan also scored for Wellesley. Will Rawski rejected 17 shots on goal for Ayr. The Centennials registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Beechey and Sean Mitchell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Wellesley incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
