Smith leads Paris over Delhi, 11-0

The Paris Mounties' Brodie Smith had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing four assists in his team's 11-0 win over the Delhi Travellers.

Smith's tallies came at 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris and 5:31 into the second to make the score 8-0 Paris.

Delhi fell victim to a deadly Paris power play, which ripped the Travellers for four goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:34 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Mounties forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game Paris had been spending in the box. The Mounties forced Delhi's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 55 shots and forcing 44 saves. Mike Harrison made 17 stops and Patrick Tanner made 27. Paris put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Travellers to score on any of their 12 power plays. The Mounties bested their season scoring average. Paris averages 3.6 goals per game. The defensemen of the Mounties were also effective in Delhi's zone, and came away with two goals.

Paris also got points from Brian Mueller, who also had two goals and one assist, Alex Ritchie, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Garrett Kirby, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Paris included Austin Cox, who had two and Tye Calder, Merrit Crumback, and Zach Taylor, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Cody Bateman, Mitchell Harvey, Brett Wilson, and Connor Purbick AP, who contributed one each and Jacob Norcott and Brady Wheelans, who each chipped in two.

Davis McLean rejected 16 shots on goal for Paris. For the Mounties, Tyler Arsenault was ejected from the game. The Travellers ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Delhi ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Jakubowski was ejected from the game.
