Huge game by MacDonald boosts Woodstock over Delhi, 6-0

Ryan MacDonald was all over the ice for the Woodstock Navy Vets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Woodstock's 6-0 win over the Delhi Travellers.

MacDonald scored at 12:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Woodstock and again while 6:20 into the third to make the score 3-0 Woodstock.

The Navy Vets pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:18 into the first period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

Woodstock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Navy Vets' defense was surprisingly good. Woodstock allows 2.5 goals per game. The Navy Vets forced Delhi goalie Patrick Tanner to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Woodstock outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Navy Vets average 3.9 goals per contest. The defensemen of Woodstock were also effective in the Travellers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Woodstock also had goals scored by Michael Nutt, Nathan Innes, Ricky Johnston, and Justin Elms, who each put in one. More assists for Woodstock came via Austin Richardson, Cam Leslie, Braden Hutchison, Dylan Wettlaufer, and Jeremy Racicot, who contributed one each and Mike Gillespie and Jake Schneider, who each chipped in two.

Delhi's offense was handcuffed by the Navy Vets' defensive play, and the Travellers managed only 14 shots on goal during the game.

North Davies (AP) made 14 saves for Woodstock on 14 shots. The Navy Vets registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For Woodstock, Max Coyle and Garrett Whetham were ejected from the contest. Tanner rejected 41 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. Team's Kyle Vigar and Chris Spinello were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
