Norwich survives Tavistock comeback, wins 3-2Norwich Community Center Sat, Nov 29, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Norwich Merchants survived a determined comeback attempt by the Tavistock Braves on the way to a 3-2 win. Norwich made the score 3-1 on a goal by Kurtis Lavis at 7:59 in the third period, and Tavistock got as close as 3-2 when Jordan Ritsma scored 17:31 into the third period. Lavis had a great game for the Merchants, netting two goals. Norwich stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Merchants' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Braeden Shand also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Drake Morrell, who had two and Mitchell Berzins, Derek Slaght, Dalton Alford, and Brett Banks, who contributed one each. Tavistock kept Norwich's goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Maziarz made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Braves could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game. Tavistock also got a goal from Braedon Hancock as well. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Liam Kelly, Shaun Pickering, Derek Cowing, and Jamie Shoemaker, who each chipped in one. The Merchants incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tavistock took out Ben Larder after he had made 11 saves and installed Kyle Sephton in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. The Braves registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
