The Wellesley Applejacks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the New Hamburg Firebirds held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Taylor Wood put New Hamburg up 4-1 in the third period, but Wellesley pulled to within two on Taylor Doering's tally 4:36 into the third period. The Firebirds' penalty kill excelled, as New Hamburg gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. The Firebirds stifled the Applejacks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wellesley was unable to stop New Hamburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Firebirds eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. New Hamburg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The Firebirds were helped by Jaden Goetz, who had one goal. Goetz scored 16:17 into the second period to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg. Shawn Antonides provided the assist. New Hamburg also got points from Kory Nowak, who also registered one goal and one assist and Wood, who also racked up two goals and one assist. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Chris Eckert, who had two. The Applejacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Wellesley forced New Hamburg goalie Harrison Pharoah to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Josh Bickell also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Matt Ridge, Alex Uttley, and Jake Wilkinson, who each chipped in one. Pharoah recorded 35 saves for the Firebirds. Tim Bester made 39 saves for the Applejacks on 43 shots. Wellesley incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
