Tavistock downs Burford in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Tavistock Fri, Nov 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Burford Bulldogs on a clutch goal by Jordan Ritsma. Although Tavistock was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Burford kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Bulldogs pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Kyle Walker at 6:20 in the third period. Ritsma was all over the ice for the Braves, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Ritsma scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Tavistock had gained a power play chance when Anthony Van Looyen was whistled for roughing. Derek Cowing provided the assist. Ritsma's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Tavistock with 17:05 left in overtime. Cowing picked up the assist. Tavistock additionally got points from Cowing, who also had one goal and two assists. Jamie Shoemaker also scored for Tavistock. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Matthew Lupton, Andrew Bogdon, Drew Wagler, and Angus Rowland, who contributed one each. Burford forced the Braves goalie Ben Larder to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Burford also got a goal from Blaise Burtnick as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were Owen Hinch, Alex Hall, Adam Harris, Hayden Stewart, and Jesse Brooks, who each chipped in one. Ben Larder made 30 saves for Tavistock on 33 shots. The Braves incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Michael Black rejected 19 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Burford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
