Battaglia leads Burford over Paris, 6-3

The Burford Bulldogs' Jack Battaglia had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Paris Mounties.

Battaglia's tallies came at 4:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burford and 13:50 into the third to make the score 5-3 Burford.

Burford's offense rang up 36 shots on Paris' net. The Bulldogs' goal total was higher than their season average. Burford averages 3.8 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on the Bulldogs, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Burford additionally got points from Broidy Rondelet, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Mitch Randell, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Burford also had goals scored by Owen Hinch and Jesse Brooks, who each put in one. More assists for Burford came via Tyler Hinde, who had two and Michael Black and Hayden Stewart, who each chipped in one.

The Mounties' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Paris finished with 58 penalty minutes.

The Mounties were helped by Brodie Smith, who tallied one goal. Smith scored on the power play 7:46 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Paris had gained a power play chance when Anthony Van Looyen was whistled for slashing. Tyler Arsenault assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Paris included Andrew Heibein and Brett Wilson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Paris received assists from Brett Banks, who had one.

Black rejected 22 shots on goal for Burford. The Bulldogs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Zach Shomphe recorded 30 saves for the Mounties.
