Morrison's hat trick boosts Norwich over Burford, 6-3

Zack Morrison netted a hat trick to lead the Norwich Merchants over the Burford Bulldogs, 6-3.

Morrison got on the scoresheet 1:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:50 into the first and at 3:06 into the second.

Norwich stifled Burford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs were unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Norwich eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Merchants bested their season scoring average. This season, Norwich averages 3.2 goals per contest.

Norwich additionally got points from Kurtis Lavis, who also had one goal and one assist and Braeden Shand, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Mitchell Berzins as well. More assists for Norwich came via Jesse Szabo, who had two and Ryan Stephenson and Troy Lamoure, who contributed one each.

Burford forced Merchants' goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 38 shots and forcing 35 saves. Justin Pacheco made 14 stops and Patrick Maziarz made 21. The Bulldogs found themselves short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

Burford was helped by Adam Harris, who registered two goals. Harris scored the first of his two goals at 26 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-1 Norwich. Kyle Walker provided the assist. Harris' next tally made the score 5-3 Norwich with 15:02 left in the third period. Chris Grand picked up the assist. Jesse Brooks also scored for Burford. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were Jack Battaglia and Mitch Randell, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Norwich, Lavis and Morrison were ejected from the contest. Michael Black made 37 saves for the Bulldogs on 43 shots. Burford registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Anthony Van Looyen and Broidy Rondelet were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
