Tracey's goals lift New Hamburg to 6-2 victory over Delhi

Behind a great game by Carter Tracey, who had two goals, the New Hamburg Firebirds defeated the Delhi Travellers, 6-2.

Tracey's tallies came on the power play at 11:20 into the first period to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg and 19:23 into the third to make the score 6-2 New Hamburg.

New Hamburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Firebirds gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

New Hamburg kept Delhi's goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Tanner made 46 saves on 52 shots. The Firebirds' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as New Hamburg finished with 28 penalty minutes.

New Hamburg also got points from Tyler Hoffman, who also racked up one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also had goals scored by Quinten Haddock, Chris Eckert, and Jaden Goetz, who scored one goal each. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Kory Nowak, who had two and Anthony Osterling, David Jennings, Shawn Antonides, Matt Bedforth, Taylor Wood, and Brodie Muckler, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers forced the Firebirds goalie Ryan Purcell to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Delhi was helped by Kelsey Van Ymeren, who registered one goal. Van Ymeren scored on the power play 17:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 New Hamburg. The Travellers had gotten the advantage when New Hamburg's Goetz was sent off for hooking. Matt Lynaugh assisted on the tally. Jarred Ebdon also scored for Delhi. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Steve Barati, who had one.

Purcell recorded 32 saves for the Firebirds. New Hamburg registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Delhi incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
