Wellesley blows out Burford, 6-1Wellesley Fri, Nov 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellesley Applejacks were firing on all cylinders against the Burford Bulldogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Applejacks emerged with a 6-1 win. Wellesley was led by goalie Tim Bester, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Bester certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.33 entering the contest. The Applejacks were led by Sean McEwan, who had one goal and one assist. McEwan scored 10:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Cal Jefferies assisted on the tally. Wellesley kept Burford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Black made 36 saves on 42 shots. The Applejacks' goal total was higher than their season average. Wellesley averages 3.1 goals per game. The Applejacks were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of 13 man advantages. Wellesley also got points from Matt Schieck, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wellesley included Paul Morra, Reid Denstedt, and Alex Uttley, who each put in one. More assists for Wellesley came via Tyler Seguin, Blake Hetherington, Coleton Madge, Justin Plant, Justin Lebold, and Chris Beauchesne, who each chipped in one. The Bulldogs were held below their usual level of production. Burford puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Wellesley was unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Burford eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game. The Applejacks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Burford registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Anthony Van Looyen and Jordan MacKenzie were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
