Langford's goals lift Woodstock to 6-2 victory over TavistockWoodstock Community Center Sun, Nov 16, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Mackenzie Langford was all over the ice for the Woodstock Navy Vets, as he tallied two goals in Woodstock's 6-2 win over the Tavistock Braves. Langford scored on the power play at 10:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock and again while on the power play 9:39 into the third to make the score 4-2 Woodstock.The Navy Vets surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Woodstock has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The Navy Vets had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances. Woodstock also got points from Chris Nauts, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mike Gillespie, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Dylan Wettlaufer, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Jake Schneider, who had two and Austin Richardson, Cam Leslie, Justin Elms, Ryan MacDonald, and Dan Haig, who contributed one each. Tavistock's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Braves finished with 31 penalty minutes. Tavistock was helped by Matthew Lupton, who grabbed one goal. Lupton scored on the power play 10:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. The Braves had gained a power play chance when Leslie was whistled for tripping. Jake Wiffen assisted on the tally. Tavistock also got a goal from Liam Kelly as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Tristan Hohl, Tayler Trachsel, and Drew Wagler, who each chipped in one. Michael Roefs made 24 saves for Woodstock on 26 shots. The Navy Vets ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Woodstock, Garrett Whetham was ejected from the game. Tavistock's Ben Larder stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Braves registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Tavistock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Braedon Hancock was ejected from the game.
