Woodstock wins tough contest against Delhi, 4-2

The game between the Woodstock Navy Vets and the Delhi Travellers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Woodstock emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Navy Vets gained the winning advantage on a goal by Nathan Innes 18:03 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Woodstock was led by Innes, who registered one goal.

The Navy Vets stifled Delhi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Travellers were unable to stop Woodstock from sending pucks towards the net, and the Navy Vets eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Woodstock also had goals scored by Nick Mercier, Mike Gillespie, and Justin Elms, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Woodstock were Michael Nutt, Mackenzie Langford, Jake Schneider, and Dan Haig, who each chipped in one and Austin Richardson and Max Coyle, who contributed two each.

Delhi was helped by Kelsey Van Ymeren, who had one goal. Van Ymeren scored 14:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Delhi. Scott Peirsson assisted on the tally. Chris Spinello also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Jordan Betzold and Matt Lynaugh, who each chipped in one.

Jackson Swindells made 23 saves for Woodstock on 25 shots. The Navy Vets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mike Harrison rejected 36 shots on goal for the Travellers. Delhi incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
