Norwich completes comeback, beats Paris, 4-3Brant Sports Complex Sat, Nov 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Norwich Merchants climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Paris Mounties, 4-3. Norwich never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Merchants trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by Paris' Brodie Smith at 11:31 in the second period. Norwich tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Mitchell Berzins at 9:19 in the third period. The Merchants scored the game winner at 13:17 in the third period on a goal by Berzins. Berzins and Kurtis Lavis provided the spark for Norwich, combining for three goals and two assists. Berzins registered two goals and one assist and Lavis also notched one goal and one assist. Norwich additionally got points from Lavis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Zack Morrison as well. In addition, Norwich received assists from Braeden Shand, who had two and Derek Slaght and Harlen Vanwynsberghe, who each chipped in one. The Mounties were led by Brady Wheelans, who grabbed two goals. Wheelans scored the first of his two goals at 2:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. Brett Wilson assisted on the tally. Wheelans' next tally made the score 2-1 Paris with 11:33 left in the second period. Garrett Kirby picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Brett Banks, Alex Takacs, and Davis McLean, who contributed one each. The Merchants' Patrick Maziarz stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Norwich incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Davis McLean made 22 saves for Paris on 26 shots. The Mounties incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
