Woodstock downs Burford, 6-3Woodstock Community Center Fri, Nov 07, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Dan Haig tallied one point to lead the Woodstock Navy Vets to a 6-3 victory over the Burford Bulldogs. Woodstock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Navy Vets forced Burford goalie Michael Black to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Woodstock surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Navy Vets average 3.4 goals per contest. Woodstock also got points from Chris Nauts, who also had one goal and one assist, Braden Hutchison, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Mike Gillespie, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Wettlaufer also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Justin Elms, who had two and Austin Richardson, Michael Nutt, Matt Jauernig, Max Coyle, and Jake Schneider, who each chipped in one. The Bulldogs stifled Woodstock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Burford was helped by Mitch Randell, who tallied one goal. Randell scored 8:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burford. Quinn Stefanelli assisted on the tally. Burford additionally got points from Tyler Hinde, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Burford also got a goal from Alex Hall as well. Jackson Swindells rejected 26 shots on goal for the Navy Vets. Woodstock incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Mackenzie Langford and Coyle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Bulldogs' Black stopped 45 shots out of the 50 that he faced. Burford incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
